The Level 2 & 3 course is designed to help our adult sailors get out on the water confidently in all safe conditions and have a taster at racing and some of the advanced modules. This course is designed for those who have completed the Level 1 course.
Over the course of six days you will cover the following:
The Five Essentials Parts of the boat and sail – how do they work? Sail and Foil Controls Knots (Reef knot, bowline, clove hitch) Clothing and Equipment Meteorology including Beaufort Scale and when to reef Distress Signals including Flares Lee Shore Dangers No Go Zone Sea Sailing – Tide Tables, Spring and Neaps, Ebb and Flow and Rule of 12ths Speed over ground Inland Sailing – Local Bylaws, Locks and Weirs, Self Reliance, IRPCS (International Collision Regulations) and the Racing Rules – Simplified
Rigging and Launching The Five Essentials – Sail Setting, Balance, Trim, Course made Good and Centreboard Triangular Course Tacking Upwind Gybing Coming Alongside a Moored Boat Picking up a Mooring Man overboard Manoeuvring the boat in the compound Launching and Recovering a Boat in any wind direction Dry Capsize Tell Tails
