We are planning to run a few sessions this spring/summer with the aim of developing and improving race skills. The sessions will be primarily aimed at those who have started to race in the last season or two (i.e. those currently sailing in the Bronze Fleet) and also anyone who would like to improve their sailing skills with a view to beginning to race. However, even more experienced racers from the Gold and Silver Fleets are welcome to attend in order to hone their skills and share their knowledge. The sessions are open to adults and juniors alike.
This will not be formal coaching or training, but an opportunity to discuss some of the theory, to get some tips from more experienced sailors, and to then have the chance to practice the skills on the water in a supported environment. The support boat will be on hand.
If there is sufficient interest we will run at least three such sessions this year. The likely focus of the sessions will be (1) starting tactics and skills, (2) boat positioning upwind and downwind and (3) mark rounding. We can also focus on any other skills or aspects of the Racing Rules those attending would like us to.
